About William J. Dorsey

Attorney William J. Dorsey was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida.  He attended all local high school and then went to college and law school at the University of Florida.  While working on his undergraduate degree, he was captain of the University of Florida Gators football team.

After being admitted to the Florida Bar, Mr. Dorsey was Assistant State Attorney in Jacksonville, where he tried several jury trials from minor drug possession cases to capital felonies.  

He relied on his years leading an important football team to provide him with the wherewithal to develop a record of prosecutorial wins and found soon thereafter that his criminal court experience made him extremely comfortable in family courts, too, and he opened his private practice.

Having tried well into the multiple hundreds of family law cases, Mr. Dorsey has argued in front of nearly every judge in Duval, Clay, St. Johns, and Nassau Counties, and has tried cases throughout the entire state from northern Florida to Miami, including the west coast and Orlando.  He prides himself on his reputation as a creative and aggressive attorney who knows when to push at trial and when to navigate through negotiations.
